Where does time go? I swear the older I get, the faster the years pass. I am sure most of you can relate.
10 years ago today, I was so nervous for our first date. I was 22 back then, he was 32. I didn’t want to mess things up with him.
To give you a bit of backstory, Eric and I met at the job we had back then during the Summer of 2009. Funny thing was that he got hired while I was out on vacation and a coworker friend told me about this “guy” getting hired that was friends with the GM and was now sitting at my sales desk. I thought for SURE they were waiting for me to come back from vacation to fire me.
I remember calling my mom and telling her about it and she told me…
“You go in to work with confidence and go get your desk back”
You know how Moms are and so… I did. I walked in with my chin up and placed my bag and my lunch bag on MY desk. Introduced myself with confidence and literally said ” Hi, I’m Lisette <Yep, that’s my full name!>, where are you going to sit now?” and he politely said “Nice to meet you, I am Eric” and moved his stuff! HAHA. Who would’ve known that he would be my partner for the rest of my life? Absolutely no one!
A lot happened in between the day we met and the day we went out on our first date January 6th, 2010 but several days before, over a game of Rummy, we made a bet. I made him say what his prize would be first and he said if he won, I’d have to go out on a date with him <Insert my heart racing so fast> and my pick was, he’d had to buy Ice Cream lol. OF COURSE, I let him win!!! (His story might be slightly different).
So 10 years ago today, he picked me up at my doorstep, opened the car door for me and said he had 2 plans made in which he wrote on small pieces of paper and placed one piece on each hand and had me pick. My pick ended up being an Entertaining Center called Firkin & Kegler. It was perfect with it being cold and windy (rarity in Orlando, FL).
I immediately, loved that about him- I love games! He was a complete gentleman the entire day. Yep, looking back now, I fell for him that day!
After that, we went out for dessert at a place called The Dessert Lady. After indulging (this is our thing), he got really close to me and asked me if he could kiss me. And from that kiss on…….we have been inseparable!
Sadly, this place is now out of business but luckily, we were able to recreate this kiss on our wedding night. On the same spot.

Today, I sit here and look back at all of what we have built, together. Our relationship has been far from perfect but we have grown stronger and stronger throughout the years and despite all the ups and downs between us, we keep choosing one another each and every time.
So this blog post goes to all the amazing memories we’ve made in a DECADE!
Just for fun, here is one of our first pictures together. I believe this was probably date number 3?

I cooked and I was so nervous because I wasn’t half the cook I am today (Ha!) and I ended up putting SO MUCH CHEESE!!! Yes, there is such thing as too much cheese on a lasagna! SMH.
Thank you Kelly Klemmensen for documenting such a special time in our relationship.

Thanks for reading our first date story!
Xx,
