Long overdue for this FUN post!

A little over three years ago my husband and I packed up all our stuff and moved to Charlotte, NC from Florida. We didnt really know anyone up here other than one set of family and quite honestly, I had never been to Charlotte before other than the day we drove up to take a look at neighborhoods and decided to sign for a new home in a new community- bit crazy I know but everything lined up beautifully and we have been SO LUCKY to have met an amazing group of neighbors that are always on the hunt to have fun together- we call ourselves Framily. Since we have such a great group, my husband and I started a Summer Drinking Olympics party and it has been SO FUN over the last 3 years, I figured to share with y’all the details in case you want to do the same with your friends. So here is how it works:
First, you need to determine how many people will attend and what you want to consider as teams. For us, each couple is one team. We started with 6 couples the first year and now we are up to 10. For our scoring system, and to make things easy, we made sure we had an even number of teams.
Since we had 10 teams, we chose to have 5 rounds (5 games). This way you don’t play the same team twice. We created this chart to determine the match-ups. I left the team names out since they are a tad inappropriate LOL but if you need Team name ideas, please let me know :).

The games we decided to play this year were:
Beer Pong – For Beer Pong we bought a regulation table you can find using this link – Beer Pong Table. The table comes with all the instructions you need for this game. You play until you wipe all the cups on the opponents side.

Beersbee- This requires a little preparation. My husband bought a PVC Pipe from Lowes and cut it in half at an alngle using a hand saw. They are each approximately 48″ long. Our backyard ground is hard as a rock so he drill a hole on the ground and then hammer down the PVC pipe to stick and set them 30 feet apart (regulation is 36 feet but we are not professionals lol). Once in the ground, measure 12 inches from the floor up and mark that with a noticeable tape (we used blue painters tape). Take 2 empty beer bottles and wrap them in duck tape. These will be set on top of the PVC pipes and the objective is to throw the Frisbee and knock down the beer bottles. This is the Frisbee we used Frisbee You play this game until one team makes 21 points winning by 2 points. All scoring details can be found on Google.

Ladder Ball-This is the one we used Ladder Ball . You play this game until one team reaches 21 points winning by 2 points.

Putter Ball- This game is so fun! Its almost like beer pong but putting. You can find it here Putter ball. You play this game until you have made each hole on the opponents side. Because we were playing outside, we put a wood board underneath to keep it leveled.

Corn hole- We had this custom made from a local shop with our College Logos- GO KNIGHTS!!! We play until 21 points.

*Giant Jenga became a filler*– We had a neighbor make this last year but you can find it here Giant Jenga. Since this game can take a long time, we had this game set for any downtime and for those who get eliminated to have something to play while the others continue.

Score system:
On every round, you play until the game is over reaching the points needed to win however the winner, will score 1 point on the board and the loser will score 0 points. I bought a presentation board and made a score chart and had it out by the games so everyone would keep track. I blurred out the team names because like I said, they are a bit inappropriate :).

After the first 5 rounds are done, then the Playoffs begin. 1st place will play 4th place and 2nd place plays 3rd place. The highest seed picks which game they want to play their opponent. Then the winners of those 2 rounds will play against each other for the 1st and 2nd place and the losers will play for the 3rd place.
As part of the “opening ceremony” we each go around and say our team name and we all take a jello shot before starting the game. To make these, we used food coloring, jello and used these containers LINK

We close the event with an Awards Ceremony and hand medals and trophies! The medals can be found here .
To make the trophies I went to Michaels and got these wood plaques and stained them. Then smashed a beer can (or soda can) and spray painted in BRONZE.

For SILVER I spray painted 2 beer bottles, used the same plaques as above and glued them with a ping pong ball in between.

For GOLD, I bought a trophy here. and every year’s winner, will be engraved on the trophy plates with the year.

The winners get to keep the trophies for the year and bring them back for the following year.
Hope you found this to be fun!!! Feel free to ask me any questions about this event. This can be twisted in so many ways! I am planning to create one for the kids soon (alcohol free of course).

XOXO,
Lis
